When I start a brand identity concept, I always want to dive straight into the fun stuff; the visuals, the characters, the logos. But the truth is, none of that works without a solid foundation. That’s the real difference between building a brand and just making something pretty.

When I create brand concepts, I lean into being witty and playful. Bold, fun brands are where I shine. It all started with a simple idea for a bright, retro tea brand as a chance to test my skills in creating brand mascots.

 

I immediately landed on the words “Hot Tea.” (Mind-blowing, I know). But it immediately felt like a human name, a tagline, and a brand personality all at once. That moment sparked the brand’s catchphrase: “Getting all the hotteas.” a fun, flexible line that can be used all over the brand’s marketing, encouraging people to explore different flavours.

 

A few more taglines spilled out after that “Hot people drink tea” and “Made for the hotteas", playful lines that lean into the brand’s cheeky personality and draw in their target audience.
